Blacktop Titan is a small operation by choice. That means the dispatch knows your name, the equipment stays tight, and the settlement is the same every week — not "next week" or "once we balance it out".

What we look for

Clean MVR. Current CDL. The right attitude.

We hire drivers who treat the truck like it's theirs, because on a small fleet it kind of is. The paperwork side of the job matters as much as the wheel side — DVIRs every day, logs honest, communication tight.

CDL-A, currentAt least 12 months of recent OTR or regional experience. No major violations in the last three years.

Clean MVRNo more than two minor moving violations in 36 months. No DUI, no preventable accident with injury in five years.

ELD-fluentComfortable with Motive (or any modern ELD). You understand HOS, your 70-hour cycle, and you don't run out of hours chasing a bonus.

Physical & medical currentDOT medical card on file, current and valid for at least six months on hire.

Willing to run the laneSoutheast home base with regular Northeast runs. Out 5–6 days, home when the schedule allows — usually weekends.

How pay works

Per mile. Loaded and empty. Settled weekly.

We pay for the work, not the promise of it. Every mile is classified and traceable to a specific driving period. No rounding up "for the company".

Loaded miles

Trailer attached, freight on board, heading to a delivery. Paid at the higher per-mile rate — currently $0.75 per mile.

Deadhead miles

Empty, repositioning to the next pickup. Paid at the lower per-mile rate. We don't run loaded one way and "eat" the empty return.

Adjustments

Detention, layover, extra stop, truck pickup, reimbursements — itemised on the settlement, with a note and the load number behind every line.

Rate figures shown are current and may vary by driver and lane. Final rate is set at hire and reviewed quarterly. Settlements are reviewed by the owner before the bank file is cut.
